One of Canada’s pre-eminent theatrical leading ladies, Jayme has performed across North America, Austria, and at the prestigious London Palladium. Armstrong secured her place among the country’s elite performers as a runner-up in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? Following her critically lauded performances on the CBC hit reality television series, the Vancouver native opted to further her career with award-winning Drayton Entertainment, appearing as Guenevere in the theatre company’s North American Tour of Camelot. An audience favourite, she has since appeared in such Drayton Entertainment hit productions such as Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, White Christmas, Chicago, Legally Blonde, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Les Miserables, Rock of Ages, The Sound of Music, Holiday Inn, Rocky: The Musical, The Music Man, The Drowsy Chaperone, Little Shop of Horrors, Singin' in the Rain, The 39 Steps and Twist and Shout: The British Invasion. She also recently directed Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid for Drayton Entertainment, as well as Nine at Theatre Sheridan.
Jayme began her acclaimed acting career on the stage at the tender age six, appearing as a Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz in her hometown of Richmond, British Columbia. At just sixteen years old, Jayme was chosen to star at the Vancouver based Arts Club Theatre, catapulting her to notoriety the professional theatre scene. She had the opportunity to star in the critically acclaimed Hollywood production of Ruthless! The Musical, for which she received the LA Weekly Award for Outstanding Comedy Performance. In 2006, she had the good fortune to spend the season at the esteemed Stratford Festival, appearing in Oliver! and South Pacific (Tyrone Guthrie Award).
She was also honoured to work with Tony Award-winning director, Walter Bobbie, on his celebrated production of Irving Berlin's White Christmas. Jayme also organized a series of cancer benefits honouring her late mother in BC and Ontario.
Armstrong’s impressive credentials include productions at Theatre Aquarius, Stage West, Persephone Theatre, Arts Club Theatre, Gateway Theatre, Angelwalk and many more.
